Oneida County Democratic Committee Announces Endorsements for the 2024 Election Year
The Oneida County Democratic Committee met yesterday to endorse candidates for various races to be held in the county this year. Following careful consideration, the committee is proud to announce its endorsements for the upcoming election cycle.
After careful consideration and thorough discussion, the Oneida County Democratic Committee overwhelmingly voted to not endorse any candidate running for the 22nd congressional district seat. As it stands, the redistricting situation is very fluid, and the committee wants more information before making an endorsement. There are several great candidates vying for this crucial congressional seat. What matters most to the committee is ensuring that Democrats reclaim these seats and that we regain strong majorities in both the US Senate and the House of Representatives. The Oneida County Democratic Committee will work as hard as possible to win these seats.
The committee did vote to endorse candidates for various New York State Senate and Assembly seats in the county.
Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon has been endorsed for reelection to the New York State Assembly in the 119th Assembly District, comprised of the cities of Utica and Rome, as well as, the towns of Deerfield, Floyd, Marcy and Whitestown. Dr. Buttenschon's dedication to public service and her extensive background in education make her an exemplary representative for our community. Her commitment to the people of the Mohawk Valley, advancing education, and fostering economic growth resonates deeply with her constituents in the 119th District.
In the 122nd Assembly District, covering parts of Oneida, Otsego, Madison, and Herkimer Counties, the committee proudly endorses Adrienne Martini. As a current representative on the Otsego County Board of Representatives and a respected author, Martini brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the table. Her advocacy for community engagement and her dedication to serving the needs of her constituents make her an ideal candidate for the Assembly.
For the New York State Senate, the committee has endorsed James Meyers. With a background in military service, government contracting, and a deep commitment to Central New York, Meyers brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table. His pledge to be accessible and responsive to the concerns of all residents underscores his dedication to representing the interests of our district.
